The Best Movie of 2006 is…

This weekend the Oscars will crown the best movie of last year; the best movie released so far in 06 and not likely to be surpassed is Dave Chappelle’s Block Party.  During most movies, one gets pissed off when people in the movie theater talk and make noise during the movie, but in Block Party part of the experience is listening to the crowd around you in the theater rapping along to the movie. The number of amazing performers at the concert would lead some to call this the Hip Hop version of Woodstock, but that would give Woodstock way to much praise in terms of musical talent performing. Aside from the actual stars, the stars of the movie are the random people that Chappelle gives tickets too including a marching band and a hippie couple. In addition, there is a great scene where Chappelle visits the Day Care Center that Biggie attended and a talk with little Caesar. Needless to say 4 Stars. On a funny side note, in today’s Boston Herald critic James Verniere compliments Chappelle’s friend Wyclef for his performances and appearance throughout the movie. I don’t know what movie Verniere saw, but Wyclef is only in the last 5 minutes of the movie and I am pretty sure he is confusing Mos Def with Wyclef.
