Woke Up This Morning…

Here are some thoughts on the first Episode of The Sopranos last night. It is my fault for reading them, but the previews of the show gave too much away. In the Globe and Entertainment Weekly, they both mentioned that something will happen to Tony in the last 5 minutes. Thus, the shooting of Tony by Uncle Junior in the last few minutes was slightly less shocking then it could have been. In addition, knowing how producer David Chase works, most fans would suspect that Tony would not be put out of commission by something obvious such as a hit from a rival family or the Feds. All that being said, the shooting scene was well done and uncle Junior scurrying away like a frightened squirrel was a classic. The power struggles that will ensue with Tony in the Hostpital and Johnny Sack in prison will be interesting to watch in the next few weeks.  My biggest complaint on the episode and the show in general is the therapy sessions with Dr. Melfi are getting extremely repetitive. In the scene where they go to Boston to kill the Greek guy, it was a nice touch to have Sean Grandy and Cendric Maxwell calling the game on the radio. Finally, you got to love the gratuitous scenes of Jamie Lynn Sigler dancing around just a bra and panties.
