My favorite author is Tom Wolfe; author of such great books as Bonfire at the Vanities, A man and In Full, and I am Charlotte Simmons. What all those books have in common is some scandal involving sex, race, politics, sports, and class. The current scandal with the Duke Lacrosse team looks like the set up for the next great Tom Wolfe novel.  We have privileged Athletes at a top university being accused of rapping an African American student who has to strip in order to pay to go to the public university across the town. I am sure soulless cable T.V. channel executives are salivating at potential ratings for a story like this.
