The Red Line Brought To You By Bud Light

I was on the Red Line today and noticed a bud light ad in the train. Not a big deal. Then I noticed that literally every single ad space on the train was a Bud Light ad. The ads were either a picture of some slutty dressed chick or a different chick grinding against a guy and all of the ads had the tag line “Bud Light always worth it in Boston.” The irony of it all is that on other Boston subway lines there are ads talking about the dangers of drinking. To add to the ad irony another staple of Boston subway ads is the Mclean Hospital ad that offers money  for being in a research study if you abuse alcohol, Cocaine, Marijuana ext…  What this tells us is that as long as you got the cash, it does not matter what you are promoting.

For the record, I am all for this. If painting a train to look like a giant bottle of Jack Daniels would make it so my monthly combo T pass did not have to cost more every few months then I say go for it. Some might argue children go on these trains and having advertisements for alcohol is sending them a bad message. I say that this is a teachable moment. Tell your child what the advertisement is for. After, tell you child to check out raggedy looking drunk homeless guy in the train who is clutching his brown paper bag with bottle of alcohol in it. (Yes there is at least one in every train) Then you point to the guy and say “that guy drinks to much of that” and then point to the alcohol ad.
