Yesterday, I went down to New York on a Greyhound bus and today I came back up to Boston on a 5:05 am Amtrak train. In the past, I usually have taken the cheapest option which is the Fung Wah bus to New York. I went with the Greyhound yesterday because the Fung Wah was sold out and the Greyhound brought me to Penn Station which made for a quicker train ride to JFK. I have come to the conclusion in any future excursions between Boston and enemy territory I am going with the Fung Wah or the Amtrak. There is no real advantage to The Greyhound (unless you count the possibility that Fung Wah occasionally burst into flames) over the Fung Wah and the Fung Wah is 10 dollars cheaper and a lot more fun to say. The Amtrak though costing 3 times more provides three distinct advantages over the 2 bus options. It is faster, more comfortable, and riding in a train it is easier to pretend that you are in a movie looking out the window and pretend that you are pondering something deep as the scenery strolls by. I also could just go get my license and buy a car, but then I would not be able to make self deprecating jokes mocking myself for not having a license and a car.
10 more dollars = fire insurance.
