Dashboard Confessional @ Government Center

I can’t stand most overly whiney Emo/Scremo bands (i.e. Hawthorne Heights) as much as the next guy, but I make exceptions when it comes to 2 bands that fall under the Emo sphere: Saves The Day and Dashboard Confessional. Tonight I went to the free WFNX sponsored Dashboard concert at government center. The acoustics were not great. The Hatch Shell would have been a better place for the concert because the government center area has too many buildings that create bad acoustics. Aside from that, Carrabba and the band did a great set. They started off with some of their softer album cuts and then closed out with harder songs. I was disappointed with the crowd for 2 reasons.  Rain during an outdoor show adds to the ambiance, but many of the wussy Emo kids ran for cover during the rain. The second disappointment with the crowd is half the fun of going to a Dashboard show is the crowd sing-alongs, but  the only songs the crowd knew the words to were the radio singles. Carrabba even made a joke midway through saying something to the effect of “don’t worry we will play radio songs that you guys might know.” Their was a Yankees suck chant during the show and which led to the break-up anthem “Screaming Infidelities” being dedicated to Johnny Damon. Here was the full set list for the night.

1. The Sharp Hint of New Tears

2. The Good Fight

3. I am Missing

4. For you to notice

5. Remember two breathe

6. So Impossible

7. Places you have come to fear most. ( with about 30 seconds of California by Phantom Planet at the end)

8. Fake Plastic Trees ( a radio head cover)

9. Don’t Wait

10. Screaming Infidelities

11. Vindicated

12. Hands Down
