Whenever I read a review of Nelly Furtado’s new album, the reviewer accuses her of stealing the style of Gwen Stefani’s hip hop laced last album A.K.A swagger jacking. I contend that Stefani jacked Furtado’s style. Furtado was always a hip hop head and had worked on Missy Elliot’s “get your freak on remix”, scat rapped on Ms. Jade’s song “ching ching, covered Kris Kross’s “Jump Jump” in concerts, and did a hip hop remix of “turn off the lights.” Any reviewer who insinuates that Furtado is imitating Gwen’s last album should have there credentials revoked.
