McCain & Lieberman in 08?
John McCain and Joe Lieberman are both heading overseas together in a senate delegation observing the effects of global warming. Does anyone else think that they may be discussing more then the earth’s climate during private moments together? Lieberman is running for the senate as an independent; in addition, John McCain who by all accounts is running for president in 08, but will have a tough time winning a republican primary because he is not with the conservative base on some key issues. If McCain can not win the republican nomination, I would not be surprised if he joined forces with Lieberman on an independent presidential ticket.

That's an interesting proposition, specifically the idea of McCain taking the independent route, because it would represent the only independent candidate for president that I can remember who would have a reasonable chance of winning.
How would this country respond to a president who was not married to either party? With no party .ines to stick to, could an indenendent president answer only to (GASP) common sense!?!?!? Although I would prefer a democrat in office to a McCain presidency and I have issues with some of McCain's positions, I do think the nation would benefit from a split from 2 party politics as they stand.
