Recap Of My Election Day Volunteering at the Watertown Middle School

This morning I woke up and rode my bike down to The Hell Mouth err… I mean the Watertown Middle School to hold up a sign in support of Deval Patrick. (Sorry about the random WMS diss, but I could not stand that place when I went there). I arrived at 7am and the only people from any of the campaigns were one other Deval Supported and myself. Around 7:45 about 4 Reilly supporters showed up and a couple of Keith Mercurio for State Rep supporters showed up. Interestingly, Mercurio’s opponent State Rep Rachael Kaprielian came by a few minutes later and talked with the Mercurio supporters cordially for about 15 minutes. For the record, there was no one from the Chris Gabrieli campaign at WMS.

I did not do any direct exit polling, but I did notice a few trends. People in pick up trucks and with labor union bumper stickers usually honked in support of the Reilly supporters or directly told them that they voted for Reilly. African Americans, women pushing children in strollers, and people driving low emissions vehicles like The Prius either honked for Patrick or directly told me they voted for him.
