One of the biggest stories of today that is receiving only a little bit of attention is that former Virginia governor Mark Warner announced he will not be seeking the Democrats’ presidential nomination in 08. Warner the highly popular governor of red-state Virginia was seen by most as the centrist alternative to Hillary Clinton. Without Warner in the race, Hillary if she chooses to run will have a pretty easy victory in the Democratic Primaries. Joe Biden while having the presidential look is a blow hard that already has failed in a presidential bid and would not rally the base at all. Bill Richardson is a popular Mexican American governor of New Mexico, but his friendship with the Clintons and lack of national recognition makes me think he is angling to get the Vice President nomination. John Kerry looks like he will want to run, but it is hard to see Kerry capturing any ones imagination with memories of his failed 04 bid still fresh and a speaking style that still sounds like he is reading congressional minutia. John Edwards got exposed as an over-rated Bill Clinton wannabe who gave a mediocre convention speech and got roasted by Cheney in the debates. Al Gore has stated he is not running, but there are rumors circulating he still might run especially after his image make over the past few years. On the other hand, Gore still has the loser tag and would not energize minority populations the way a Hillary candidacy would. So it looks like the Dem’s nomination is Hillary’s if she wants it.
thanks
