Yesterday, I rode my bike from H20town to Beantown along the Charles to see the Deval Patrick Rally For Change on the Boston common with my brother. It was a pristine fall day and with no Pats game to compete with, the turn out was good. (Boston Police estimated it at 5,500). Deval had is A game going. He started off with his well known calls for hope and civic engagement, but by midway through the speech he sharpened his distinctions and criticism of Healey’s lack of experience and political tactics. Some of Patrick best lines were about his record dealing with criminals. He pointed out that unlike Kerry Healey, he has actually put people in jail when he worked as a federal prosecutor. He went on to admit that he has represented unsavory people but he believes that is what keeps the justice in the Justice System. Another solid line was when he highlighted his experiences working in government, corporations, and non-profits and his managing of 100s of people contrasting that with Healey lack of experience managing people. Towards the end of the speech, he repeatedly used the refrain, “I’d want to change the subject too”; changing the subject he says is Healey’s tactic to avoid talking about her accomplishments or lack there of. In the speech however, he did cite Healey for having some good ideas which he routinely does particularly on her idea to give incentives for good teachers to work at underperforming schools. I took a lot of pictures of the event and a few of them can be seen below (if you want to see more of the pics email me and I will send them to you). If you are not a fan of Patrick, I would still check out the Pics for the beautiful foliage in the background.

I Like the third pic.
