Mihos in the Middle (part 2)
A few weeks ago, the Boston Herald’s Howie Carr called for Christy Mihos to leave the gubernatorial race and early today WEEI’s Gerry Callaghan repeatedly voiced his displeasure with Mihos being in the race and consequently helping Patrick to Mihos himself. I’d like to make a sports analogy to the Mihos issue. Let’s say the Yankees are one game behind the Red Sox going into the final weekend of the season. The Yankees must play the Indians in the final 3 games and the Red Sox are playing
What does all that have to do with Mihos? What conservatives like Carr and Callaghan are doing is whining like the Yankees in my theoretical baseball example. Mihos being in the race may make the path to the corner office easier for Patrick, but Healey has had and still has ample opportunity to garner votes for herself. Ask conservatives this; would Mitt Romney have let a candidate like Christy Mihos keep him from becoming governor? And just to show that I am not only picking on conservatives here, any democrat who blames Ralph Nader for Al Gore’s 2000 election loss needs to quit the complaining. If Gore was not a loser candidate he would have won. If Kerry Healey is not a loser candidate she will win. In the end, I think Healey with her lack of accomplishments and charisma will have the same fate as Gore.
