While I  felt generally disheartened to see the down-town landmark Filene’s store along with the rest of the Filene’s stores go out of business, I must admit it has been a boon for men like me. I am not cheap when it comes to some things, but when it clothing I have always been more stingy then a Bill Belichick defense. Thus, I have had a pretty mediocre wardrobe which has been criticized by girlfriends, co-workers, family members, and the occasional 5-year-old. But in the past few months, Filene’s has had 60% to 70% going out of business sales. Recently I managed to snag a nice Nautica collared t-shirt for 5 bucks. A Sean John shirt for only 6 dollars. Docker’s khakis for only 8 bucks. With all this shopping I am doing at Filene’s, I will thankfully not have to shop at the Macy’s or any other clothing store for a few years.
