Minor League Beats The Majors
Throughout this entire year, the American League was far superior to the national league in terms of head to head match ups in inter-league play, in the all star game, and in the overall level of play. However, in the World Series all that change and the Tigers played more like little leaguers who had over bearing parents in the stands; The Tigers literally threw the series away with their constant errors. Here are a few other things that make this unremarkable World Series significant:
- David Eckstein who now has won his second World Series and the MVP in this one will now officially be known as the poor man’s Derek Jeter.
- Albert Pujols now has a World Series ring despite having a mediocre series aside from a key home run in game one. Either way, unlike a certain other well known slugger he now has the World Series monkey off his back.
- Tony La Russa just had his Pat Riley moment of the 80s manager/coaching star who wins another championship to reaffirm his greatness.
- Both teams competing were in the middle in terms of payroll. Thus giving hope to any team that is smart and spends a little money.
- The Tigers approach of swinging aggressively as opposed to working the count failed miserably. Look for a resurgence of Moneyball next year.

La Russa is overated
