Boston Celtics/ NBA Season Predictions

For the record, I am aware a couple of games were played last night and thus this preview is kinda day late, but frankly I don’t give damn. The Celtics off-season was dominated by rumors of a trade for Allen Iverson and Sebastian Telfair being robbed and for a few days at least rumored to be somehow involved of shooting of Maselike rapper Fabolous. Most of the previews I have scene are not that high on the Celtics. The team’s fatal flaw has been and still is a mediocre defense that is neither the talents strength nor Doc Rivers’ coaching expertise. I do see the Celtics having a fun high flying offense. Pierce will continue to average near 30 points a night and a healthy Szczerbiak should put up some points and take pressure off Pierce. The biggest X factor on the team is if Rajon Rondo can be as Celtics fans think he can be. I say yes. Hopefully, Jefferson, Perkins, and Gomez (I am not even bothering with the 2 old guys) can be strong enough on defense and rebounding down low in order to spark Rondo led fast breaks. Amazingly enough Delonte West is not a question mark for me. I don’t see him becoming a dominant player, but has established himself as a solid starter and with Rondo and Telfair taking more of the point guard duties, West can settle in as more of a 2. Hopefully Green can also be an offensive spark plug off the bench and Tony Allen a defensive specialist. Prediction: 42 Wins: 7th Spot in the Playoffs

I think the Celtic's main problem is their terrible halfcourt offense. It's fine to say you're going to be a running team and going to get easy baskets. But you still have to be able to score in the halfcourt and be able to show a couple different looks besides giving it to a guy(usually Pierce), isolating him and watching him make a one-on-one move or kicking it out for a jumper if a double-team comes. We're going to see the Celts lose games because they only managed 30 points in a half. At least they finally have a penetrating guard in Telfair. He's fun to watch.
