While I think the Red Sox, Matsuzaka, Scott Boras, and the Seibu Lions are all legitimately trying to get a deal to bring Matsuzaka to the Red Sox, this could be a great scam by the Seibu Lions if they wanted it to be. The Lions could just put the sox 51 million in a saving account for a month, make a few hundred ground off the interest, and return the 51 million if the deal falls through. Then theoretically they can do the same type of interest scam next year. For the record, I see the sox ending up signing him to a 5 year 60 million dollar deal.
