Outkast Got It Right On Iraq

This is the chorus of the Outkast hit Bombs Over Baghdad written 3 years before the current Iraq war:

Don’t pull the thang out unless you plan to bang...
Bombs over
Baghdad, yeah...
Don’t even bang unless you plan to hit some-thang...
Bombs over
Baghdad, yeah...”

While there is an obvious sexual double entendre in the chorus the message is clear, whether it be in love, sex, or war it is best to find a target and give it all you got. The United States and its few remaining allies in the Iraq war have not heeded that advice. We went into Iraq without enough troops and when we were there we did not have the balls to take out Muqtada Al Sadr 2 years ago and now he is an even bigger obstacle to a secure Iraq. Now, most of the leading experts on the matter including presidential poll frontrunner John McCain are saying what Outkast said long ago; our 2 options in Iraq are to either significantly increase troop levels or get the hell out.

I vote for the latter. We can not control an entire country with warring factions that does not wish to be controlled. We need to let Iraq hash itself out and be prepared to witness how horrible that is going to be then deal with whatever the aftermath of that conflict is. If it a single government, three separate smaller nations, or just continually warring unorganized bands that are not hostile to the United States that’s fine. If it turns into a government or harbors groups that are an enemy and a threat to the United States, then we will have a clear enemy and must act accordingly which must include military action on a greater scale and more vicious then the past few years in the region. If that is the case, so be it.
