Richardson’s Real Goal: Vice President

Governor of N.M. Bill Richardson recently announced that he will run for President in 2008.  Despite an exceptional resume that qualifies him to be president, I don’t think Bill Richardson has the name recognition or fund raising capabilities to run a successful presidential campaign. In addition, I believe Bill Richardson knows he is not well known enough to be president. Thus, though he claims to be running for president, Richardson is actually running for president to gain name recognition in order to get on the presidential ticket as Vice President. Richardson’s centrist democrat policies and experience would be asset to any ticket.  Here is a list of what Richardson could bring to a presidential ticket:

  • Elected to Congress 7 Times
  • Elected Governor of N.M 2 times and won his second term by the highest victory margin in state history.
  • Was the ambassador to the United Nations under Bill Clinton
  • Served as Secretary of Energy ( this is where he suffered his only major career blemish during the Wen Ho Lee scandal)
  • Hispanic American heritage would help in that ever more crucial demographic.
  • Undergrad and Graduate Degrees from laceName>TuftslaceName> laceType>UniversitylaceType>
