Before I go into my rant about last night’s brawl, anyone who can email me the name of the group that sings the song from which I got that headline gets 10 bonus points. Now to the rant:  There was a brawl in the Knicks vs. Nuggets game yesterday. You are going to hear many a sportswriter and hack social commentators talking about how it is a disgrace, an example of the moral decay of society, and why wont someone please think of the children. I want to come out and say I am pro brawls in any sport. Not only do I love watching sports brawls, but I think there is a slight hint of bigotry in sports writers because they like to attribute NBA Brawls which more likely involve African Americans to thug/hip hop culture. But you never will hear the word thug thrown around when discussing classic brawls like Nolan Ryan’s ass wooping of Robin Ventura, The Tree Bites Man/Ainge Brawl, The  Jim Lonborg vs. Thad Tillotson Brawl, Carlton Fisk vs. Thurman Munson, Carlton Fisk vs. Lou Piniella, The Varitek/A-Fraud Brawl,  or every time Trot Nixon or Brian Daubach managed to start some shit the past 10 years, ext. These brawls mostly involving white people are looked at as what they are, dumb guys fighting each other; not some sort of cultural crisis.
