Analysis & Pictures of Park Street War Protest

I had to take the Red Line to Harvard Square today from Park Street and then the 71 home instead of my usually express bus because my work accidentally bought me the wrong Charlie Card. (I needed a Charlie Ticket to travel on the inner express bus, not the Combo Charlie Card which apparently only covers trains and local buses) Before I got to the Park Street T Station, I noticed there was a protest going on against the Iraq war (about 100 people). I have for years now voiced my oppositions to this ill conceived and terrible executed war in this blog, on message boards, and debating with people who support the war. Despite that, I find these war protests that are frequently in the Boston Common kinda silly. For one thing it is preaching to the choir since Boston is one of the areas in the country where the war has always had the least support. Instead of a protest, I think tactically it would be a better idea to have some sort of fund raiser to raise money for politicians who are against the war and to buy airtime to promote legislation against the war. Or even better they could raise funds and donate the money to charities that help American Soldiers wounded in the war, the families of those killed in the war, and to charities that help innocent Iraqis hurt in the war. Not only would they help good causes, it would provide positive publicity to the anti-war movement and make the message more effective. But I guess I should give them some credit for making an effort so here are some pics of the protest:
