Pats vs. Jets Prediction (The Battle of the Sith Coaches)
In the Star Wars movies it is noted that Sith have a certain relationship pattern. There is a mentor and a pupil. Eventually after the pupil has learned enough of the ways of the dark side, he turns against his mentor and then finds himself a pupil. NFL coaches are a lot like Dark Sith Lords. Parcells had a pupil in Bill Belichick. Belichick learned from Parcells and then eventually turned on him and left the Jets job to go to the Patriots. He learned that behavior from Parcells who broke contract with the Pats to go to the Jets. When Belichick came to the Pats, he got himself a young apprentice in Eric Mangini. Mangini learned from Belichick and eventually turned on Belichick and took the Jets job against Belichick’s wishes. Today they face off in their third battle of the Dark Sith Lord coaches. While Mangini has learned a lot, I don’t think his knowledge of the force is up to par with Belichick nor is his army as strong as Belichick’s. Look for the Pats to come out with a spread offense and a lot of quick slant patterns to score early and negate the Jets pass rush/substitutions. The Pats defense will allow at least one big play to most likely Coles, but will stop a lot of drives 3 and out. In addition the Jets will get a field goal after getting good field position after long kick off returns against the porous return coverage unit. In the second half, the Patriots will go to the running game which a tired and talent overmatch Jets will have a hard time stopping. The Patriots will control the time of possession in the second half of the game and secure the victory with a T.D. with around 4 minutes left in the fourth quarter. Final Score Prediction: Patriots 27 Jets 17.
Giants vs. Philly Score Predictions: Philly 31 Giants 10
Note: I was correct in my predictions yesterday that the Colts and Seahawks would win, but was completely wrong in my prediction of how the games would play out. If Romo was a true winner he would have dove and got that first down after the muffed field goal attempt.
