David Beckham has reportedly signed a 5 year 250 million dollar contract with the M.L.S’s L.A. Galaxy. Beckham has currently plays for Spain’s Real Madrid where he has only been a starter 5 of the team’s last 16 games. Thus The Galaxy are paying 250 million for a back up. The 250 million dollar is extremely deceiving; this is not a contract like Alex Rodriguez who singed a 10 year 250 million dollar deal where his team actually signs check worth around 25 million each year. Beckman’s deal will be financed heavily by endorsements. While this deal will most likely not increase the popularity of soccer in the United States like the M.L.S. hopes, Beckman is married to the only anywhere near attractive Spice Girl (Posh) and might end up in US Weekly a few times.
