That is the day that the Cleveland Indians and by extension Trot Nixon come to Fenway. If anyone ever deserved a standing O as a returning player it is Trot. He is one of the all time Red Sox and was the last player on the team from the Lou Gorman Regime.

In addition, Trot Nixon accomplished a remarkable feat. He was in the Red Sox organization for over a decade and managed to consistently have the love of the fans. How many other people in Sox’s history can say that? Dwight Evens, Yaz, Dom DiMaggio, Wakefield, who else? Others like Ted Williams, Jim Rice, and Clemens, had over 10 great years with the Sox, but no one would call them loved by the fans during their time here. (For the record, that is more a comment about the stupidity of some fans then the aforementioned players)
