God Damn It

  • Well, I give it to the Colts. While there is not as much history between the Colts/Pats as the Sox/Yankees, the Colts had there 2004 moment today coming back from a big deficit to win. Aside from the Colts playing well, The Pats lost for 2 reasons.
  •  One, they lacked enough offensive talent to make big plays when it counted. Example A is the 3rd and 4 play when the Brady forced a pass to Brown allowing the Colts to have a lot of time for their TD drive. The Patriots could have used Branch in a situation like that.
  • The other big factor that contributed to the Pats loss was that due to injuries guys off the street like Baker and Alexander where playing safety for the Pats which led to the middle of the field getting torched for a ton of yards.
  • Hobbs played well with some key pass break ups and was great on kick returns.
  • The 2 fumble touch downs reminded me of Bugs Bunny cartoons when everyone tries to pile on Bugs and then bugs slips away and watches the proceeding from the side. That’s what happened with the touchdowns. There was a pig pile and the ball squirted loose like Bugs.
  • A huge play was when Caldwell was wide open  and Brady did not see him in time. When he did see him, Caldwell dropped the ball. That should at least been a first down and possible a touch down. Caldwell also dropped another sure touch down, but lucky for him Gaffney bailed him out with a great catch.
  • Samuel played a great game and deserves the huge pay day he will get at the end of the year.
  • Gostkowski matched Adam kick for kick and even boomed a few into the end zone at key times.
  • That too many men in the huddle penalty by Evans was only for 5 yards, but it was still huge in terms of hurting our chances for a first down. Dumb plays like that contribute to losing the game.
  • I will give credit to Dungy and the Colts coaching staff for calling that gutsy game winning touch down run. The Patriots defense was obviously all geared up for a pass and was completely fooled by the run call.
  • I guess I have to give Manning credit too for making some big throws. (I got to go throw up a little after writing that)
  • Brady should not have forced that last interception into double coverage. We still had time for more plays. But when you win on the high wire act so often, you sometimes fall.
  • The Patriots looked tired in the second half possible due to all that traveling and the extremely physical game in San Diego last week.
  • In the end, the Pats did not have enough talent this year. Which may have been partially due to the Pats not spending to the Cap. They cant go into next season on the cheap and they need to make sure those 2 first round draft picks can contribute right away.
