This week the greatest hockey player who ever lived retired. Some would argue that Orr, Gretzky, or Howe is the greatest player ever. But, I ask you this… did Howe, Gretzky, or Orr ever score 27 goals in a 5 minute period? I think not. But Jeremy Roenick did that all the time. Sure Roenick did not accomplish that in “real life.” He did it in EA’s NHL 93 for The Sega Genesis. Roenick’s digital self was one of the most unstoppable forces in video game history. This fact was even immortalized in the classic seen in Swingers.
