Whale Watch Recap +9 Pictures

I went on a Whale Watch today on the Boston Harbor Cruise lines Aurora Ship. We went about 25 miles off the coast of Boston to Stellwagen Bank which is a major feeding ground for whales along the east coast. The first cool aspect of the trip was the speed of the ship. I went on the Boston Harbor Site Seeing Cruise with some friends a few years back and just last spring I went on the Odysseus Cruise with the ex, but those ships did not go half as fast as the Aurora. Standing on the top deck with the wind rushing through you at nearly 50mph is quite the experience. After a while, we reached Stellwagen Bank. At first, we only saw a whale (identified as a Finback Whale by our guide) in the distance. After about 15 minutes though, we got to see 2 Humpback Whales at a pretty close distance. After about 45 minutes we got a real treat when a Humpback came within about 50 feet of the ship and started splashing around. Below are 10 of the best pictures I got during the trip.
