Red Sox vs. Cubs World Series?
With the best record in baseball and the most pitching depth, the Red Sox are the favorite to make the World Series in the A.L. If the Sox made it, who stands to be their most likely opponent? Even though they don't hold a playoff spot right now, I would have to go with the Cubs. LA and San Diego have strong pitching but not enough hitting. The Mets have too many questions on their pitching staff. The N.L. Central leading Brewers seem to be slowly fizzling. However, the Cubs have been playing really well since Zambrano punched Michael Barrett and Barrett was subsequently traded. Since that day, Zambrano has been one of the best pitchers in baseball. The rest of the Cubs rotation (Rich Hill, Sean Marshall, Jason Marquis, & Ted Lilly) have also been pitching well. Add in the fact the Cubs have the second best offense (after The Mets) in the N.L. led by Derrek Lee, Aramis RamĂrez, & Alfonso Soriano and I think they should be considered the favorite to win the N.L. right now.
