It looks like the Red Sox have got Eric Gagne for Dave Murphy, Kason Gabbard, and a 16 year old kid. While Gabbard and Murphy both have the potential to be solid major leaguers, getting Gagne will strengthen the Sox already strong bull pen for the playoffs. In addition, when Gagne leaves at the end of the year as a free agent, the Sox will get a sandwich draft pick which will offset the loss of young talent in the deal. The only concern with Gagne is his health which has been on and off the past few years; However, when he is healthy, he is damn good. Below are his stats from this year and his career stats:
