A Tale of Two Games

Some thoughts on a frustrating game:
•Over half of this game was a tight pitchers duel, but the end was a calamity of errors.
•Home Plate umpire C.B Buckner was not as bad as everyone thought tonight except on that Strike 3 call on Ortiz that was high and outside. The pitch to Pena was a ball.
•Lugo’s bunt against to the left of Chad Bradford who falls to the right after he throws a pitch to score the go ahead run was a thing of pure beauty. (Albeit it was the second most beautiful thing I saw today.)
•Dice-K has seemed to settle into a grove where he gives up walks but not a lot of hits or runs. In addition, he is consistently averaging a strike out an inning. It is too bad he could not get the win tonight.
•Gagne just looks jittery trying to be a set up man. He stuff is still good (not great), but the lack of swagger on the mound makes him less intimidating to batters. I hope the Sox go back to using Okajima as the set up man to start innings more often then not and use Gagne for occasional set up work and for less taxing games.
•I would say at least 70% of the crowd was Sox fans.
•Eric Bedard is a damn good pitcher, but there is something about his face that I find annoying.
•Tough Loss Tonight
