Sports Radio Irony
Discussing and bitching about contracts is one of the hallmarks of modern day sports radio. However, right now the biggest contract talk around WEEI is not J.D. Drew or Samuel's hold out from the Pats but the benching of morning hosts John Dennis and Gerry Callahan (who was supposed to come back today) over contract issues. With this and the Howie Carr contract dispute, there is enough drama in local radio to support a station devoted to talking about other stations on air talent contracts. In the end, I think Carr ends up at 96.9 WTTK and John Dennis and Gerry Callahan end up on WBCN especially now that their dispute with WEEI has gone more public. I would not be surprised if WEEI tries to lure Mike Felger from 890am ESPN Radio to take over the morning slot with another co-host. Here are links to Herald stories about these issues:

If WBCN becomes a guy talk station that would be an end of an era, a major wound to the local rock scene, but also a boon for WFNX and WAAF.
