Knuckleball Mystery
Tim Wakefield just won his 15th game. Let that sink in for a second. Wakefield just turned 41 and looks like he could keep pitching for another 10 years. Wakefield has 152 career wins with the Red Sox which means there is a outside chance he could pass Cy Young and Roger Clemens to become the all time Red Sox win leader. (193 wins is the current record) Considering these facts, I am surprised every college ballplayer, minor leaguer, and hell even just random slobs don't spend their days trying to figure out how to throw a quality knuckleball. It can't be something you are born with can it? That does not really make sense. So a knuckleball must be an acquired skill. If that is the case, being able to pitch a quality knuckleball is akin to winning the megabucks. Instead of playing scratch tickets, people should practicing their knuckleball.
