Ruminations On A Longass Baseball Game
•Home plate umpire Mike Eviritt tried to single handedly ruin tonight’s game. I don’t care if his strike zone was consistently small for both teams. If it is a strike, call it a strike, or the hitters will all sit on fastballs down the middle and you end up with 4 hour long 13-10 games.
•Here is a memo to the fans that interfered with the Glaus pop up that Hinske could have caught in the 4th inning; if you want a ball that bad, go out and buy one. If there is any chance a Sox player can catch the ball, get the hell out of the way. If you see a fellow fan reaching for it, push them out of the way of the Sox player trying to catch the ball even if the fan is a women or child. You might get charged with assault, but any reasonable judge would throw the case out as a justifiable attack.
•Ellsbury is just a joy to watch.
•The ball was flying out of Fenway tonight. That Glaus HR and some of the balls that hit the wall would have been outs if they where hit during the spring time.
•The way Wins are awarded to pitchers in baseball can be ironic (in an Alanis way). Dice-K has at least 8 starts this year when he should have ended up with a win and did not because of lack of runs support; tonight was the reverse.
•It is looking more and more like Pedroia will win Rookie of The Year
•Here is hoping that Seattle gets its shit together and sweeps the Yankees. Also even though he is on the Mets, it was good to see Pedro get the win and 3000 Ks today.
