Bouncing Back and Forth
Its rare that a non Boston sports game causes me to divert attention away from a Boston game. But that happened last night where I repeatedly was checking on the classic San Diego vs. Colorado one game playoff. Last night's game pretty much had every possible dramatic event you could see in a baseball game: Grand Slam, a couple of comebacks, extra innings, close plays at the plate, a controversial non-HR call et al. More then any other sporting event, one game playoffs in baseball seem to deliver dramatic results. People talk about final fours and super bowls, but many times those are duds compared to earlier playoff games. Even if the Rockies get swept in the first round, they still will have the memory of their improbable comeback the last few weeks of the year and last night.
