A Simple Twist Of Fate Does Sox In
•In 1990 James Belushi stared in a movie called Mr. Destiny. The basic premise of the movie that was one moment in a life could have a snowball effect that could completely alter the course of a person’s history. That moment tonight for the Red Sox came in the 5th inning when Wakefield deflected a potential double play ball that was heading straight for Pedroia with his glove causing a run to score and no out to be recorded. After that the flood gates opened.
•Speaking of flood gates, some will accuse me of hindsight with this but why the hell did they put Delcarmen in that spot in the 5th after he already pitched last night. I would rather have kept Wakefield or gone straight to Lester especially considering that Peralta is a great fastball hitter.
•I am sure some dumbass talk show caller or talk radio host will criticize Manny for show boating after his HR, but Manny has every right to show boat considering he is one of the few Sox’s that have shown up this series. Over half of this line is dead weight right now. Which leads me to my next point.
•Ellsbury has to be in for CoCo in the next game. Crisp has been doing shit all series and Crisp has not shown an ability to go with the pitch all year which Ellsbury is a natural at. This line up needs a spark and they are not going to get it with dead weight like Crisp and Drew in there.
•Props to Lester for a great outing that kept the Sox in the game.
•Today was the classic live and die by the knuckleball game. Until it all fell apart in the 5th, Wakefield was fucking unhittable.
•This series is far from over despite how bad the Sox have looked of late. If Beckett comes up big on full rest on Thursday, then the series heads back to Fenway where we hit much better. I just hope that if we get back to Fenway the fans are not sitting on their hands like they have been most of the playoffs.
