10 Years From Now, We'll Still Be On Top

Not only did the Sox win game 3, but the major players in the victory Ellsbury, Pedroia, and Dice-K are all rookies! We have as many up and coming young stars as any team in baseball and have the $$$ to fill in the gaps when we need to. This team may be the start of an unprecedented run in Red Sox history. A few other thoughts:
  • After Lowell stole that base in the 8th innings, I foresee his agent calling up every GM in baseball to note that Lowell is a "5 tool player."
  • Lugo made 2 really good defensive plays tonight. He may not be worth 8 million, but he is a lot better then Rent-A-Wreck was.
  • The Rockies sure do have a ton of white guys on their team and about a fourth of their fans appear to be blond chicks.
  • Dice-K had his best velocity in months tonight and hit a 2 run single. Fogg must not have got the memo that Dice-K was a damn good hitter in his high school days. On a side note, here is a link to a good article about Dice-K's first year: http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/playoffs2007/columns/story?columnist=stark_jayson&id=3082060
  • You got to love Manny doing his random helmet toss routine, having it hit his own feet, slowing him down, getting called out at home, and then laughing about it in the dug out. Someone like A-Rod probably turns into a basketcase every time he screws up; Not Manny. Manny laughs it off and just keeps playing. All the talk show callers like to complain about his antics, but Manny is a hitting savant and would not be one of the 5 greatest right handed hitters in the history of baseball if he gave a shit about anything besides pulverizing balls from the batters box. Next time someone calls into a talk show to criticize Manny, I want them to be asked what right does someone who is most likely mediocre at everything they do have to question the methods of someone who is one of the all time greats at something?
  • I hope I don't see Javy Lopez ever again. He did not have a terrible year, but he is a lefty who can't get lefties out. Hell, I hope I don't see Javy Lopez the catcher ever again either.
  • Finally, here is hoping for a full recovery for Patrice Bergeron who suffered a broken nose and a concussion today on a scary hit into the boards.
