The Celtics had an easy first game victory tonight with Garnett, Pierce, and Ray Allen all pretty much giving what is expected of them. However, the man I want to focus on all season is Rajon Rondo. If Rondo can play the all star caliber defense he is capable of, limit his turnovers, and hit open shots when the defense is double teaming Pierce and Garnett, then the Celtics should win the eastern conference. Rondo did all of those things tonight with 4 steals, and hitting 7 of 10 for 15 points. I was switching back and fourth between the local FSN telecast and the ESPN telecast tonight and heard the ESPN guys saying that Rondo was just a back up player at this stage in his career. If I was Doc Rivers, I would pull a Belichick and make a collection of all the Rondo is not good enough quotes and tape them to Rondo's locker each day.
