1. This means the Red Sox are going to keep their top prospects. The Sox have a team good enough to win it all next year and with Jacoby, Buchholz,  Lester, Lowrie, and Masterson still in the system they can have the young talent to stay strong for years to come. In addition, adding Santana to a rotation with the likes of Dice-K, Schilling, Beckett would have been great in terms of talent, but it would have just felt a little like over kill.
2. The Yankees did not get him. The Yankees don't have a true ace and now that they did not land Santana they still don't.
3. The American League teams have been a lot better then the National League teams of let leading to anticlimactic World Series. I don't mind a National League team (even if it is the Mets) getting stronger to increase the suspense of the season.
