Bike Theft Irony

As some of you know, I recently had my bike stolen. Today, I went and bought a new one, a blue Giant Boulder. I had owned the bike for all of 3 hours and was riding up Arsenal Street when 2 police cars behind me flashed their lights and signaled for me to pull over. I immediately began wondering if I had violated some sort of new bicycle traffic ordinance or something. The first officer approached me and informed me that they had a recent report of a blue bike stolen in the area. I explained to the officer that I had just bought my bike and if he liked I could go home and show him the receipt. The officer commented that the bike did indeed look brand new. Lucky for me the other officer who got out of the next car was a High School classmate of mine and laughed off the situation because he knew I would not steal a bike and let me go on my way. I am not sure if this situation was a true example of Irony, but at the very least it was Alanis Ironic.
