Ruminations About HBO's The Wire (Spoilers Alert)

While watching last night's penultimate episode of HBO's The Wire, I realized that the story arc of many of the young characters on the show is leading them to become very similar to some of the older characters. Here are a few examples of what I mean:
Duquan "Dukie" Weems is the next Bubbles: They both go by a nickname, Dukie is not involved in the underground economy much like Bubbles was with his shopping cart business, and now Dukie is homeless and living among drug users and may become one himself because of his surroundings.
Michael Lee is the next Omar Little: Michael much like Omar has shown that he can be a cold blooded killer, but he is not a heartless killer and that distinction is important. Michael does not want to kill those who have not committed any sin much like Omar. In addition, Micheal is now in a position where he is a lone wolf much the way Omar was.
Kenard is the next Marlo Stanfield: Marlo is a sociopathic drug king pin. Kenard who appears to be around 10 years old already shows those tendencies. His sociopathic nature is evident since we have seen him pick on the innocent like Dukie even though Dukie was older, we saw him trying to burn a cat, and most recently he was the one who actually shot and killed the legendary Omar. In addition, he is already a veteran of the corner even at his age.
Namond Brice is the next Sergeant Ellis Carver: This is not to say that Namond is going to become a police officer, (we got some indication that he may be in politics) but Namond much like Carver has a way with words and the knowledge of the street to be a force for good in the future.
Now for a few other thoughts on last nights episode. The scene with Michael and Dukie in the car where Michael could no longer recall a recent childhood memory of more innocent time was a classic scene and showed what the streets had turned him into. As was the fact that he could not shed a tear as he said good bye to his brother.
The other classic scene was the death of Felicia Snoop Pearson who will go down  as one of the most memorable characters in all of T.V. history. What made Snoop so scary and so good at what she did was that even in the end when the gun was being pointed at her she seemed resigned to the fact because she truly believed in her mottoes that "deservings got nothing to do with it" and "everyone has their time to go." We also got to see a touch of Micheal's humanity as he complemented her on her hair before pulling the trigger.
