I found it interesting that the front page of the Boston Herald this morning had a story on the departure of Bob Lobel from WBZ channel 4 news. It was a case of a dying institution (the local news paper) reporting on the death on another institution (the local Sports Anchor) I don't write that with any glee or satisfaction. I was a sports and news nut from a young age and grew up reading the Herald and the Globe ( Jackie MacMullan is reported to be leaving that paper) and watching Lobel. I can't say that I read the Herald (in newspaper form anyway) or watch Lobel any more. News just moves too fast today and by the time Lobel is on everything he is talking about is old news. Good luck to Bob and Jackie; However, I am sure that they will stll be heard from Jackie on ESPN and Lobel most likely doing work on WEEI and other local radio.
