Disappointing Loss; Positive Season
The B's started out the night outplaying the Habs, but could not put the puck in the net. Then Montreal got a break with a goal off of a deflection; after that, it was all Habs. Their offensive skill guys made good plays to score like the second goal which was a great move by Mark Streit. After getting the 2-0 lead, they went into defense mode and stifled any semblance of a Bruins attack.
Despite it being a Game 7 loss to rival Montreal, tonight's defeat did not feel crushing. This Bruins team was not going to win the cup; however, they made a lot of strides this year and along with veterans Chara and Savard have developed a good crop of young talent like Lucic, Krejci, and Kessel. They still need more offense though which will partly be addressed by the hopeful healthy return of Patrice Bergeron next year. I hope they go after another goal scorer in the offseason though. On a side note, Montreal young brother combo of Andrei Kostitsyn and Sergei Kostitsyn are going to be thorns in the Bruins and rest of the leagues side for years to come. They both have skills and from years of playing together anticipate each others moves and placement on the ice well.
