The Choking Sound That You Heard Coming From L.A. Tonight Was The Lakers
It should be noted, in LA, during game 4 of the NBA finals, that Phil Jackson was out coached by Doc Rivers and Paul Pierce outplayed Kobe Bryant.
I want to praise the Celtics for tonight's amazing come back win more and I will, but before I get to that I want to mock the Lakers who choked tonight. When things where going well in the first half everyone was draining shots for L.A. However, when the Celtics finally got to single digits you could see the hesitation and fear in the Lakers. Odom who was so dominant in the first half, punked out like a biatch and disappeared in the second half. Vujacic was a terrible 1-9. Even Kobe though he made some big shots did not perform any Jordan-like will to win plays down the stretch
The Celtics on the other hand fought back. I have to give Doc Rivers credit for switching up the defense and putting Pierce on Kobe in the second half. In the first half the entire Celtics team was helping Ray Allen cover Kobe which allowed wide open shots for the rest of the Lakers. In the second half, Pierce put in a yeoman's effort keeping Kobe in check. In addition, Doc's adjustment to go small and put in the better shooting team messed up the Lakers defense.
The Celtic who put in the key performance in this historic win was one of the guys who has been there before, James Posey. Posey played great defense and hit the open three pointers when the Celtics really needed them.
Ray Allen played solid the entire night and then made the drive of the game where he finished with the left hand with less then a minute to go. It was an odd play with Allen just dribbling for most of the 24 seconds and when he started to drive I think the Lakers expected him to pass or pull up or something; because when he got by Vujacic no one on L.A. was there to help. KG needs to get his props as well; his game was not flashy but he played great D including a big block on Gasol in the 4th quarter, got the rebounds, and hit some big shots down the stretch.
