There are few people who can say they are the best in the world at something without any real debate. Tim Wakefield is one of those people. He is the best Knuckleballer in the world. He has been for over 10 years now. This is not to say he is the best of all time. One of the Niekro brothers most likely Phil could argue that one. However, I don't think Phil could go out and pitch 7 innings of shut out ball right now like Wakefield did tonight. Thus, as I write this, Tim Wakefield can say that of the more then 6 billion people on earth no one can throw a knuckleball better then him. On a side note, the knuckleball is one of the great mysteries on earth. Wakefield has managed to make tens of millions of dollars throwing it; why can no one else master it? It can't be some natural born skill, can it? On the other hand, if all it takes is frequent practice, why are their not others who have practiced enough to the point where they can be successful in the major leagues?
