I went to the 14 inning game against Tampa last month when Timlin got shelled in the 14th to lose the game. After that, I assumed it would be the last time I saw Mike Timlin in anything resembling an important game. Unfortunately, I was wrong. For some reason, the Sox put him on the post season roster. For some reason, Tito put him in the game instead of Paul Byrd. Would it not have made more sense to put Byrd in there as a potential long man if the game kept on going? As for the rest of the game, Beckett is obviously not 100 percent. His fastball is topping out at the low 90s, his curveball now and then is great, but it is mostly inconsistent, and he pitches in general don't have a lot of movement. We need Papi to get out of the funk he is in. Right now, the best we can home we he is up is getting a walk because he is so off balance that he is not hitting the ball hard. A lot of the blame can also be put on Ellsbury for tonights loss. He went 0/6 and left 3 men on base. It is a shame that we lost this game when so much of our bullpen pitched great:
