Down 3-1 In The ALCS: 2007 vs. 2008

Last year when the Sox where down 3-1 to Cleveland, I was pretty optimistic. I remember telling people and writing in my blog that Beckett would win game 5 and then we would head back to Fenway where we hit better and take the series. It turned out I was right. I wish I could say that I was equally optimistic this year, but I can't. Last year we had Manny being Manny in the middle of the line up. This year Manny is in L.A. Last year we had Mike Lowell on fire. This year we have Mike Lowell scheduled for surgery. Last year we had Beckett dominating. This year we are wondering if he is still hurt. Last year, papi was still hitting the ball. This year, it is a major event when Ortiz manages to get an extra base hit in garbage time because he has looked lost at the plate. Last year, games 6 and 7 where at Fenway. This year they are at the Trop. Last year we replaced a struggling CoCo with Ellsbury and Ellsbury came up with big hits. This year we replaced a struggling Ellsbury with CoCo and CoCo grounded out into a D.P. tonight when the game was still close. Last year, the middle of Cleveland's line up was scuffling. This year the middle of Tampa's line up is sending everything out of the park. All that being said, I think Dice-K will come up big in game 5. And if the old Beckett shows up for game 6, we can win that. and if Lester pitches like he has most of the season in game 7...
