Thoughts On A Banner Night

It is hard not to be cynical in sports or in general, but tonight it was hard not to get a little choked up watching Paul Pierce tearing up as he helped raise banner 17. He most likely has played an insane amount of basketball and his life and dreamed of reaching this pinnacle so it is understandable how his emotions could overtake him like that. Pierce managed to turn his emotions into a dominating game scoring 27 to lead the Celtics to victory. Some other thoughts:
  • Scott Pollard was in the house tonight to get his ring. He is also a free agent. I wonder if he is just going to keep getting tickets to Celtics home games in case Perkins twists his ankle or something so he can just jump in.
  • They mentioned on tonights broadcast that Delante West has been dealing with mood swings and depression. It just goes to show you that you can't really get a feel for someone via the T.V. because he always seemed pretty calm and collected.
  • Speaking of the broadcast, I feel like Craig Sager is stalking my sports teams.
  • Lean Powe had a great game.
  • Tony Allen was also good off the bench. I think he is the key to this year because we need him to replace Posey's defense and timely scoring.
  • Eddie House's kid is back and better than ever. Did anyone else see him trying to distract Lebron during his final free throws.
  • Speaking of the final part of the game, they where blasting Letters To Cleo over the PA system with 4 seconds to go.
  • The Cavs have 4 really tough to spell last names: Ilgauskas, Varejao, Szczerbiak and West.
