New Jay Z "History"

Jay Z's new song "History" sounds like it could be written for Obama's win, but it is not. Though, I am sure Jay Z was savvy enough to release it to time it with the election win in order to get extra publicity. The song produced by Kanye West is backed by a sample from French singer VEROPNIQUE SANSON. The Chorus of the song is a little bit corny, but it works with the overall feeling of the song. The lyrics are typically lyrically dense with subtle silly/witty puns like "as a teenage boy, before acne, before I got proactive I couldn't face shit, I just threw on my hoodie and headed to the street"  that add to the metaphor/story element of the song. I would not put the song on par with classic Jay Z, but it works great for an anthem to play at the end of a Championship season, graduation, or in the thing most people will associate it, an election victory.
