Letters To Cleo Fucking Rock The Paradise (night 1)
I am a member of the Greek Orthodox Church and Red Sox Nation. Those may be the only 2 groups that I can identify with more then being a fan of Letters To Cleo/Kay Hanley. I am 25 years old and have been a consistently rabid Cleo/Kay fan for 15 years. Thus, it should be a surprise to no one reading this blog that I was at the first Letters To Cleo Boston gig in about 8 years. From the start of the show the drumming of Stacy Jones was the most immediate holy shit I forgot how good he was moment. While Kay's husband USA mike plays with her on some of her solo gigs, Jones is never there and his presence beating the shit out of the drums back there tonight is what gave the show its constant kick especially on the pop rock classic "Awake". That is not to lessen the contributions of Greg McKenna and especially the always amazing USA Mike who is a technical wizard and innovator on the guitar with one of the most unique and distinct styles of the past 20 years. He really shined tonight on the up tempo combo of "Demon Rock" followed by "Fast Way" and the distortion filled "Jennifer".The Star of the night as always though was Kay Hanley who despite her small statue is a towering presence on the stage. Kay has always had this amazing ability to manipulate her voice for affect which she did tonight; from the more girlish voiced songs like "Find You Dead" and their Christmas Song "Where The Fuck Are My Presents?" to a deeper voice on "Big Star" and the iconic rapid fire chorus of Here and Now. Below are some pictures from the show. Tuesday=night 2.

Nice white jeans Kay!
She looks like she works a kiosk at the mall.
