New Music: U2's "Get On Your Boots"

U2's new single "Get On Your Boots" is not a soaring anthem like their last few singles. It does however sound like tons of other songs especially Escape Club's Wild West  which is a song I loved when I was like 4 because it had a cool video. (that song was also a rip off of an Elvis Costello song) The best aspect of the song is the lyrics. I could be wrong, but after a few initially listens Bono seems to mocking the current everything in the world is doom and gloom crowd: "free me from a dark dream-candy first then ice cream- all the kids are screaming but the ghosts are not real" The song starts off with the line "the future needs a big kiss- wins blow with a twist- never seen a moon like this-can you see it too?" The "Get On Your Boots" chorus is pretty much Bono saying stop worrying about all the potential problems and go out and make the future a better place. Slightly corny yes, but overall it is done pretty good. Final Song Grade: B
