So I Bought A Playstation 3 and NHL 09

Aside from playing games at a friends place, I have been pretty much out of the video game world since the 90s. (I owned a Genesis and PS1) I make one luxury purchase every year, and this year I decided to go with a new video game system. After doing some research, I went with the PS3 despite it being the most expensive. The Xbox 360 was a no go because I found a ton of articles showing it had a startlingly high failure rate and even a name for when it called the red ring of death. The Wii is selling like hot cakes, but to me it seems like more of a system for girls and kids that focused more on silly party games. Furthermore, some games that I wanted are not coming to the Wii particularly Street Fighter 4. For me a video game system that can't play Street Fighter is not a video game system especially since the trailers and previews of SF4  all point to it kicking more ass than Chung Li when she is doing that super fast leg kick thingie. Street Fighter is not out yet, so the first game I bought for the PS3 is the updated version of the first game I bought for the Genesis and PS1 which is EA's NHL series. In this case, NHL 09. After playing it for a day, I am impressed. I am still getting used to the new control system which is hella lot more detailed then it used to be. (you can play with the old school style Sega controls if you want though) The game is much more of a hockey simulation then the old one so I don't expect to score 75 goals in a 15 minute game like I used to back in the day with Jeremy Roenick.  However, the first time I scored on a break away while using the right joy stick to deke the goalie I got a rush and the old joy of video game hockey returned. While Roenick may not be as unstopable as before, the first game I played was the Bruins against the Sharks in my potential Cup preview and guess who scored the first goal against me for the Sharks... fucking Roenick. The legend lives on.
